Niro
The Danish Company Niro A/S was established in 1933 under the name of Niro Atomizer. Today it is an international company specialising in the development, design and engineering of liquid and powder processing equipment for the manufacture of products in powder, granular or agglomerate form.
Spray dryers and coolers, fluid bed systems, freeze drying systems, solid/liquid extractors, evaporators, membrane filtration systems, agglomerators, and granulators feature in a comprehensive delivery programme marketed world-wide through an extensive network of Niro companies and representatives.
Many of the world's leading manufacturers have chosen Niro technology for their production of dairy and food products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Some of these products are manufactured in a single plant, others in a fully engineered process line designed and installed by Niro in collaboration with leading suppliers of auxiliary equipment.
Niro plants are designed for operational and environmental safety, featuring concepts that give the lowest energy consumption, while achieving the highest product qualities.
Substantial product and process know-how, commitment to customers, qualified staff, and a flexible global organisation have been important elements in creating the fine reputation enjoyed today. The company has achieved a high market share in many industries, the most significant being for spray dryers supplied for instant coffee, food and dairy products, and hard metals.
Following GEA's acquisition of Niro, Niro has functioned as the head process engineering division of GEA .
In 1999, GEA and Niro became part of the German mg technologies group. On July 12th, 2005 mg technologies ag was renamed GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft and the new headquarter is located in Bochum. GEA stands for "Global Engineering Alliance".
